What a big day! In the morning, we went to the botanical gardens to see actually dinosaur footprints. From there, Kevan took us to the museum at the University of Texas. We saw a complete petrosaur fossil as well as a variety of other fossils and native Texas wildlife displays.

Please note Jack sitting on the end hiding from the camera. He was mad that I would not buy him a toy. Such drama.

In the evening, we went to Round Rock to watch the bats take off for the night. Jack was over the moon. He told me that it was one of the best nights of his life.
I couldn't get a good picture, but what was really fascinating was watching the hawks hunt the bats as they first left for the night. During the brief overlap in their schedules, the hawks pick off 10 or so of the million bats leaving. When it gets too dark for predators, the majority of the bats come out - a stupendous sight. I do not think that I have ever seen that number of any living thing ever.

This is Jack doing his bat imitation.

My aunt bought the kids these eggs that dissolve in water and reveal a dinosaur. The plan was to take pics of them at various stages of cracking. We forgot.
The dinosaur that Jack is balancing on his head here is what came out of his shell.
